Week in intense Tokyo and relaxed Kyoto. Amazing hospitality, lots of bowing, the "BJ Girls" performing "Miss Understood", a surfeit of white hotel slippers and not a piece of graffiti in sight. Handheld GPS meant freely wandering through the labyrinthian back streets without the fear of ever getting lost. My new do-not-forget list: passport, credit card and GPS.
