Athens: really friendly locals, Greek signs that give a practical use for pure mathematics, an incredible number of docile stray dogs, and more columns than an accountant's ledger. Taxi hailing in Athens can end up with a ride in the only Silver Spur Rolls Royce in Greece. Santorini, arguably the inspiration for Atlantis, is the antithesis of Athens. Relaxed and serene, except during the sinking cruise liner incidence on the second day. The closest experience yet to a small island paradise. Sleepy white and blue villages (the quiet month of April is by far the best time to visit), boutique stores selling Cycladic art, a plethora of churches and warm sunny days with a cool Mediterranean breeze.
